Lieutenant Colonel (R) Matt Schoenfeldt

    Matt Schoenfeldt is a distinguished leader with over two decades of dedicated service in the United States Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in July 2022. He began his military career in 1996, enlisting in the Infantry, and later commissioned as a Field Artillery officer in 2001 after graduating from the University of Kansas.

Throughout his career, Matt demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic acumen, particularly in his roles with the Army Recruiting Command, the Army Talent Management Task Force (ATMTF), and on the Joint Staff. As the Brigade Operations Officer for the 1st Recruiting Brigade, he implemented innovative strategies that led to the recruitment and enlistment of over 10,000 Soldiers. His efforts contributed to the unit receiving a Presidential Unit Citation for excellence.

Matt's commitment to excellence is further evidenced by his distinguished awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Valor Device, Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. His multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan underscore his bravery and dedication to service.

In addition to his operational achievements, LTC(R) Schoenfeldt is both Army Staff and Joint Staff qualified. As Director of Assessment for the ATMTF, he played a crucial role in shaping HR policy for the Army. During his Joint Staff tenure, he served as a Strategic Concept Writer for the J8 Joint Staff Innovation Group, where his work in developing future warfighting strategies against near-peer adversaries was instrumental in shaping national defense priorities.

Currently, Matt leverages his extensive military experience in his role as Director of Human Capital Solutions at HigherEchelon, Inc., where he continues to drive growth and innovation. His leadership and strategic vision position him as a valuable asset to the broader defense community.
