Colonel (Retired) Dick Teters served 30 years in a variety of capacities. Originally commissioned as an Armor Officer he would go on to command a Tank Company and a border Cavalry Troop during two tours in Germany, and Mech Infantry and Tank companies in Vietnam.
After 12 years in Armor, Dick was medically transferred to the Finance Corp where he served as the Division Finance Officer for the 1stCavalry Division and the 24th Infantry Division. While serving as the Chief of Finance at US Forces Command, his team was instrumental in automating the Military Pay systems for the US Army Reserves, Army Travel Pay, and Vendor Payment systems. His strategic contributions included the formation of the Army’s Finance Groups and Battalions.
He was the first Commander of the 24th Finance Battalion. Upon completing command of the 24th Finance, he immediately assumed command of the Santa Anna Recruiting Battalion and would remain in USAREC commanding the 6th Recruiting Brigade and serving as Deputy Chief of Staff Resource Management and Logistics, and Chief of Staff. His contributions to USAREC include the first Medical Recruiting detachments and transfer of all Medical and Chaplain Recruiting to USAREC, the integration of the Army Marksmanship Unit and The Golden Knights, and the first internet based Recruiting initiative.
In retirement Dick is a professor of management and strategy at Kennesaw State University, Georgia’s second largest university.
