Miguel (Mike) Ramos hails from Humacao, Puerto Rico, and served in the US Army for 26 years from September 1980 to October 2006, retiring with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. His last duty assignment was as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commander in the Baltimore Recruiting Battalion, Ft. Meade, MD.
Upon his retirement, he transitioned to Higher Education, starting as the Director of Admissions for Rasmussen College, in the Ocala FL campus, then as Sr. Director of Admissions for the online division of Rasmussen College. In 2009, he became the Regional Director of Admissions for the online and five residential campuses in Florida, and in December of 2010, became the Campus President for the Land O’ Lakes campus, Land O’ Lakes, FL.
In 2012, he accepted the position of Campus President of the Tampa Campus of the Southeastern Institutes, and in 2013 moved to Greenville, NC, accepting the position of Campus Director for the Greenville Miller-Motte campus (a school division for Delta Career Education Corp) where we saw exponential growth and change in both the staff and faculty, the students, and the communities served. In 2015, he was promoted to General Manager for the International Schools (a school division of Delta Education), with multi-site responsibility for nine (9) training locations and one centralized business office, all throughout Texas and New Mexico.
In 2018, he transitioned and accepted a position with CCS (Community Counseling Services) Inc., a global non-profit organization specializing in fundraising and strategic planning for organizations in the areas of Health and Human Services, Colleges and Universities (endowments), Religious sector, the Arts/Museums & Culture, Environmental Sustainment, and other organizations that serve to create positive changes in the human condition. As the Sr. Executive Director for assigned campaigns, his drive for philanthropy was centered around professionalism, diligence and dedication for the organizations served. His focus was on guiding clients towards their objectives by improving organizational processes and implementing long-term strategies. These foundational improvements allowed clients to expand their impact and to further their missions.
In 2020, he accepted the position of Superintendent/Executive Director of Hapeville Charter Schools, in Atlanta GA. Hapeville Charter Schools provides school choices to families in the South Fulton County area. Hapeville Charter Schools is comprised of Hapeville Charter Career Academy (HCCA) and Hapeville Charter Middle School (HCMS). Both Hapeville Charter Middle School and Hapeville Charter Career Academy are fully accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED), are members of the Georgia Charter Schools Association, and are part of the Fulton County School System.
Mike has served on several boards, including the Rotary Club of Ocala, Fl, VPK-Early Learning Coalition of Marion County (Ocala, FL), the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (Tampa, Fl), the North Carolina Adult Education Association (NCAEA), and the North Carolina Association of Career Colleges and Schools (NCACCS). He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA), Tampa FL, and is the Vice Chair of the Local Board of Directors for Atlanta Technical College.
He holds a BS in Business/Social Psychology, an MBA, and has completed all coursework for a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program, with a concentration in Leadership, from Walden University (doctoral candidate, ABD). He is married to the former Lynne Babcock, and has four children, Jessica, Alyssa, Alex (currently on Active Duty serving as an Attack (Apache) Helicopter Repairer), and Aidan. He and Lynne have four grandchildren, Kaelyn, Levi, Adalyn, and Jonas.
